How it works
Turn on Talk in Settings › Pip, then start Pip Live from the notch, the microphone button in Pip’s chat, or ⌃⌥V. Speak normally. macOS turns your words into text, on your Mac for English and Malay; Pip answers with the same AI you chat with; and you hear the answer out loud.
Cut in whenever you like
Pip Live keeps listening while it talks, so you can interrupt the way you would a person. It knows its own voice from yours, so it doesn’t cut itself off.
It answers in your language
Pip listens for the language you actually speak, not just the one in Settings, and reads each sentence in a voice for its language. It can even tell Malay from Indonesian, which trips up plenty of software.
You pick the voice
The voice comes from a service you choose, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Azure Speech or Google Cloud, with your own API key, kept in your Mac’s Keychain. You pay that service for what you use. We skipped the built-in system voices because they didn’t sound good enough, especially in Malay, so without a key, Talk stays quiet.
Private by design
Talk is off until you turn it on. The microphone is only on while Pip Live is open, and nothing is recorded or kept. The voice service receives the text of Pip’s answers to speak them, never your voice.
