It all stays on your Mac
Your docks, notes, Pip’s chats and history live in SideDock’s folder on your Mac. There’s no account, no sync and no SideDock server holding your stuff. Keys and sign-ins you add go into your Mac’s Keychain.
It asks first
macOS asks before SideDock can use anything private, and each permission is used only for the features it’s for:
- Calendars and Reminders, for your agenda and the tasks Pip schedules.
- Accessibility, to open docks from the edges and press buttons in other apps when you ask, like pausing a video.
- Bluetooth, for your earbuds’ and keyboard’s battery.
- Screen Recording, only for the Dynamic Glass notch, processed in memory and never saved.
Turn any of them off in System Settings › Privacy & Security, and only the feature that needs it stops.
What leaves, and where to
Chats go to the AI provider you choose, with your own key or account. Widgets you connect, like Stripe or GitHub, talk to those services directly. The weather asks Open-Meteo, with an approximate location. None of it passes through us.
What it never does
- No analytics or tracking, in the app or on this website.
- No selling or sharing your data for advertising.
- No camera, ever.
- No recording: the microphone is only on while you talk to Pip yourself, and nothing is kept.
The long version
The Privacy Policy lists every permission and every service, in plain words.
