Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and SideDock when you download, buy or use the SideDock app for macOS and getsidedock.com. Please read them; by using SideDock you accept them.

Effective October 14, 2026Applies to the app and getsidedock.com

The short version

  • Try it free for 7 days. Then pay once and use it forever, with no subscription.
  • Your plan sets how many Macs. 1, 3 or 5 Macs that you own or use.
  • 14-day refunds. If SideDock isn’t right for you, ask within 14 days of buying. See the Refund policy.
  • Your AI, your keys. Pip uses the AI provider you choose; its terms and fees are between you and it.
  • Check what Pip does. AI can be wrong, so review what Pip does on your Mac before you rely on it.

01The agreement

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, form the agreement between you and SideDock (“SideDock”, “we”, “us”). If you use SideDock for an organisation, you accept them on its behalf and confirm you’re allowed to. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

02Your license

SideDock is licensed to you, not sold. When you buy a plan, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use SideDock on the number of Macs your plan allows, for personal or business purposes, under these terms.

You can try SideDock free for 7 days before buying, with every feature unlocked. When the trial ends, SideDock asks for a license key to keep working; your settings stay on your Mac.

The license is a one-time payment. There is no subscription and no renewal. As long as you follow these terms, you can keep using the version you bought, and the updates described in section 5, for as long as it runs on your Mac.

03Devices

Your plan covers 1, 3 or 5 Macs, as shown when you bought it. Each Mac must be one you own or regularly use. To move a license to another Mac, deactivate it on the old one first, or write to us if you can’t (for example, if the Mac was lost or replaced). You can upgrade to a plan with more Macs by paying the difference.

SideDock needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 or later. Some features need hardware or permissions your Mac may not have, such as a notch display or Screen Recording access.

04License keys

Your license key is sent to the email address you used at checkout, straight after payment. It’s for you alone: keep it private and don’t post it publicly. If it’s lost, the Recover license page sends it again to that address.

If a key is leaked, shared or used fraudulently, we may replace it with a new one or deactivate it. When we replace a key, we send the new one to the purchase email, and your license carries on unchanged.

05Updates

Your license includes all updates we release for the major version you bought (for example, every 1.x release of SideDock 1). If we release a new major version, we may offer it as a paid upgrade, usually at a reduced price for existing customers. You can always keep using the version you have.

Updates may add, change or remove features. We aim to keep what you rely on, but services SideDock works with can change in ways beyond our control.

Some features may be marked as beta, and you may be offered test builds before a release. They’re unfinished by nature: they may change, break or disappear, and you use them at your own risk.

06Payment and prices

Purchases are processed by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record and is named at checkout. Its terms apply to the payment itself. Prices are shown in US dollars. Taxes such as VAT or sales tax may be added at checkout depending on where you live.

Struck-through prices show our regular price; the lower price is the one you pay. We may change prices for future purchases at any time. A change never affects a license you’ve already bought.

07Refunds

You can get a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, without having to give a reason. Our Refund policy explains how to ask, what happens to your license, and the extra rights consumers have in some countries. The version of that policy in force when you bought SideDock is the one that applies to your purchase.

A license is digital content delivered as soon as you pay. We never ask you to give up a legal right to withdraw from the purchase, so any such right you have where you live stays fully in place.

If something’s wrong with a charge, please ask us for a refund before going to your bank. A chargeback is slower for you, and the license is paused while the bank looks into it. Fraudulent chargebacks or repeated abuse of refunds may lead us to deactivate the license.

08Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • share, sell, rent or publish your license key, or use it on more Macs than your plan allows;
  • bypass, disable or tamper with licensing, activation or security features;
  • copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer SideDock, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • use SideDock, or Pip, to break the law, to harm others, or to access systems or accounts you aren’t allowed to;
  • use SideDock to break the terms of the apps and services it connects to.

09AI providers and Pip

Pip works with the AI provider you choose, using your own key or account. Your use of that provider is governed by its terms and policies, and any fees it charges are yours to pay. We aren’t responsible for its availability, output or charges.

Pip can act on your Mac when you ask, for example opening apps, changing settings, moving files, creating events or sending a reply. AI can misunderstand or be wrong. Review what Pip proposes, especially anything you can’t undo, and keep backups of important files. You’re responsible for what you ask Pip to do. The same applies to AI apps you connect to SideDock through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

10Third-party services

Widgets and features can show data from services you connect, such as weather, calendars, music, analytics, payments or developer tools. Those services are run by others under their own terms. They may change or stop working with SideDock, and we can’t guarantee what they return. Keeping the credentials you add safe is up to you.

11Your content

Your notes, chats, settings and files are yours. SideDock stores them on your Mac, and we claim no rights over them. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve SideDock without owing you anything for them.

12Ownership and trademarks

SideDock, Pip, the app, its design, artwork and this website belong to us and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms don’t give you any rights to our names or logos.

Apple, Mac, macOS and MacBook are trademarks of Apple Inc. SideDock is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Apple Inc. Other product and company names are the trademarks of their owners and are used only to describe what SideDock works with.

13Disclaimer

We work hard to make SideDock reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that SideDock will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that data shown from other services will be accurate.

Some places don’t allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you. Rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded are not affected.

14Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of SideDock, including actions taken by Pip or connected AI apps. Our total liability for any claim relating to SideDock is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

15Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because you misused SideDock or broke these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs, damages and legal fees that result. This doesn’t apply to the extent the claim was caused by us, and it doesn’t apply to consumers where the law doesn’t allow it.

16Ending these terms

You can stop using SideDock at any time; Settings › Privacy & Data › Uninstall removes it cleanly. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, for example by sharing your license key, committing fraud or abusing refunds, we may deactivate your license after telling you why, unless the law or an ongoing investigation stops us from explaining. Sections 11 to 15 and 17 continue to apply after these terms end.

17Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where SideDock’s publisher is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in its courts. Before any formal dispute, please write to us; most problems can be solved by email.

18Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as SideDock changes. We’ll update the date at the top, and announce significant changes in the app or by email before they take effect. Using SideDock after a change means you accept the new terms. A change never takes away a license you’ve already paid for.
