SideDock vs DynamicLake: an island in the notch, or every edge

DynamicLake borrows the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, and does it well. Here’s how it stacks up against SideDock, feature by feature.

The short answer

DynamicLake turns the notch into a Dynamic Island: music, your schedule and the weather, a place to drop files, notifications for messages and calls, timers, and its own volume and brightness indicators. SideDock does the live notch too, then adds docks at every edge, more than 50 widgets and Pip. If you want an island in the notch, on an Intel Mac too, DynamicLake is a good pick. If you want the whole edge of your Mac working, that’s SideDock.

In the notch

Both show what’s playing, what’s next, timers, a place for files, Bluetooth devices connecting, and volume and brightness. DynamicLake also puts the weather in the notch, tells you about messages and calls, and has a mini mode for when you want it smaller.

SideDock’s notch also follows downloads with their real progress, coding agents at work, Keep Awake, Focus and Caps Lock, and opens into Home with your music, what’s next, the weather and Pip. Pip can tell you about new messages and missed calls too, and draft the reply.

Beyond the notch

DynamicLake lives in the notch. SideDock also puts docks at the edges, the corners and under the notch for your apps, folders and widgets, from CPU and memory to your clipboard and pull requests, and Pip does things when you ask, using the AI account you already have.

Which one should you get?

  • DynamicLake, if you want a Dynamic Island in the notch, including on an Intel Mac.
  • SideDock, if you want a live notch, docks at every edge, your Mac’s vitals and a companion that gets things done.

One tip either way: DynamicLake’s own site warns about lookalike sites, so buy it only from dynamiclake.com.
